Dr. Ki Oh, a leading weight loss surgeon, joins
Franciscan Medical Group
Renowned weight loss surgeon Ki Oh, MD and his St. Francis Weight
Loss Surgery Clinic in Federal Way have joined the Franciscan
Medical Group, a service of the Franciscan Health System.
Oh, who specializes in laparoscopic and bariatric
surgery, has performed more than 3,000 weight loss procedures since
1985. Recognized as a Centers of Excellence surgeon by the American
Society for Bariatric Surgery, Oh now performs surgeries exclusively
at St. Francis Hospital in Federal Way.
He received his medical degree in Seoul, Korea and
completed his residency in general surgery through Wyckoff Heights
Hospital in Brooklyn, NY. He earned a Fellowship in Vascular Surgery
at United Medical Center in New Jersey. He is a member of the Pierce
County Medical Society, Washington State Medical Association, the
Society of American Gastrointestinal Surgeons and Society of
Bariatric Surgery.
Oh performs several types of weight loss surgical
procedures, including Roux-En-Y gastric bypass, the LAP-BAND,
duodenal switch and Vertical Banded Gastroplasty.
For those who’ve struggled unsuccessfully with weight
loss, bariatric surgery may be the key to success. According to the
National Center for Health Statistics, more than 60 million adults
in the U.S. are obese. Obesity is defined as having a body mass
index of 30 or higher. Untreated, obesity can cause severe health
problems such as diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease and
sleep apnea.
Potential surgery candidates are invited to attend a
free educational seminar to better understand obesity and weight
loss surgery, and to learn whether the procedure might be an option
for them. To register for one of Oh’s weekly Monday seminars, call
toll free 1-888-825-3227. For more information or to register
online, go to
www.FHShealth.org, click on
“Classes” and select “Surgical Weight Loss Seminars.”
