St. Francis Hospital is an Aetna Institute of
Quality® for weight loss surgery
St. Francis Hospital
in Federal Way, a leading provider of surgical weight loss
procedures in Washington, has been designated an Aetna Institute of
Quality® Bariatric Surgery Facility for treating individuals with
morbid or extreme obesity.
Aetna makes information about the quality and cost of
health care services available to its members to help them make
informed decisions about their health care needs. In line with this
goal, Aetna recognizes hospitals and facilities in its network that
offer specialized services for certain health conditions.
St. Francis Hospital, which is part of the Franciscan
Health System, earned the designation as an Aetna Institute of
Quality® (IOQ) facility for consistently delivering evidence-based,
safe care. Individuals who have Aetna insurance plans with an IOQ
requirement can undergo bariatric (weight loss) surgery at St.
Francis.
“We are very proud to have earned this recognition from
Aetna,” said Diane Gray, RN, manager of the St. Francis Center for
Weight Management. “Our status as an Institute of Quality is a
testament to our commitment to excellence and to providing the best
experience for every patient we serve.”
St. Francis Hospital introduced its bariatric surgery
program in 2001. Procedures are performed by Ki Oh, MD, and Thomas
Hirai, MD, of the Franciscan Medical Group; and Myur Srikanth, MD, a
community surgeon and Franciscan medical staff member.
In addition to bariatric surgery, the physicians,
nurses and other health care professionals at St. Francis Hospital
provide a comprehensive range of inpatient, outpatient and emergency
medical services. The hospital opened in 1987 and has 128 patient
beds.
